The single most profitable item in Stardew Valley is not a crop at all, but a cask of Starfruit wine that sells for more than 4,500g a bottle.

Stardew Valley is an open-ended country-life farming RPG created by Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, with the Android build now at version 1.4.5.151, matching the content of PC 1.6.15. You inherit your grandfather’s run-down plot outside Pelican Town and rebuild it through crops, animals, fishing, mining and friendships. The full game runs on Android as a one-time purchase, with no in-app purchases and no ads, and it plays completely offline. Five skills, twelve marriage candidates, a 100-plus crop list, the mines, Ginger Island and the Community Center hand a single save well past 50 hours before the deeper systems even open up. The 1.6 update later added the Meadowlands Farm and a late-game Mastery system on top of all of it.

What you actually do in Stardew Valley across its five skills

Stardew Valley runs on five skills that level from 1 to 10 independently, and almost everything you do feeds one of them: Farming, Mining, Foraging, Fishing and Combat. There is no shared XP bar, so a master farmer can still swing a sword like a beginner.

Farming covers tilling, planting and harvesting, and every level cuts the time crops need and raises the chance of quality stars. Mining sends you down the 120-floor mine east of town, where you break rocks for Copper, Iron, Gold and the deeper Iridium ore that tool upgrades demand. Fishing uses a moving-bar minigame that many players find the hardest skill to master on a touchscreen, and it pays well early through crab pots and river catches. Foraging covers wild items, the Secret Woods and tree tapping for Maple Syrup and Oak Resin, the resin that feeds your Kegs. Combat happens in the mines and the Skull Cavern, against slimes, bats and the tougher Shadow enemies further down.

At levels 5 and 10 each skill forces a profession choice. Farming at level 10 splits into Tiller’s Artisan path (a 40% boost to wine, cheese and jam) or the Agriculturist path (faster crop growth), and that one pick reshapes how your whole farm earns money. After you push all five skills to level 10, the 1.6 Mastery system opens behind a door in Cindersap Forest, granting perks like the Iridium Scythe and Golden Animal Crackers.

The most profitable crops in each season and what to plant first

The best crop in any season is almost always a regrowable one, because a single seed cost spreads across the whole season instead of one harvest. That single rule outranks raw sell price every time you calculate gold per day.

Here is what each season actually rewards, with the seed cost and the catch:

  • Spring, Strawberry: seeds cost 100g and sell only at the Egg Festival on Spring 13, so save your gold for that day. Each plant regrows every 4 days and earns roughly 120g per berry, the strongest spring earner by a wide margin.
  • Spring, Cauliflower: 80g seed, 12 days to grow, sells around 175g, and it can become a Giant Crop in a 3×3 grid for double yield. This is your best spring profit before the Egg Festival arrives.
  • Spring, Potato: 50g seed, 6 days, with a chance of extra potatoes per harvest, making it the fastest early cash to fund those Strawberry seeds.
  • Summer, Blueberry: 80g seed, 13 days to first crop, then three berries every 4 days for the rest of the season, the most reliable summer income for most farms.
  • Summer, Starfruit: 400g seed from the Oasis in the Calico Desert (after the bus is repaired), 13 days, sells about 750g raw and over 2,250g as wine. Highest single-harvest crop in the base game.
  • Summer, Hops: grows on a trellis and regrows daily, then turns into Pale Ale worth roughly 300g per Keg, the top gold-per-day crop if you own enough Kegs.
  • Fall, Cranberry: 240g seed, ready in 7 days, then multiple berries every 5 days, the best repeating fall crop.
  • Fall, Pumpkin: 100g seed, 13 days, Giant Crop potential, and sells around 320g, with bonus value if sold before Spirit’s Eve.
  • Fall, Sweet Gem Berry: grown from the Rare Seed sold by the Traveling Cart on Fridays and Sundays, it sells for about 3,000g, the most valuable single fruit you can grow.

Winter grows nothing outdoors except the 1.6 Powdermelon (7 days, Giant Crop possible, from winter foraging seeds), so winter is when your Greenhouse and Ginger Island farm earn their keep. The crop that crosses seasons is Ancient Fruit: grown from an Ancient Seed found in artifact spots or bought from the Traveling Cart, it matures in 28 days then regrows every 7 days from Spring through Fall, and its wine sells for around 1,650g. One Greenhouse packed with Ancient Fruit pays for itself many times over.

How to make money fast with Kegs, Casks and Ancient Fruit

Raw crops are where new players stall, because the real money in Stardew Valley comes from processing, not selling produce straight to the shipping bin. A Keg roughly triples a crop’s value by turning it into wine, and a Cask doubles it again.

The chain works like this. Plant Ancient Fruit or Starfruit, drop the harvest into Kegs, then age the resulting wine in Casks inside your farmhouse Cellar (unlocked after the third house upgrade from Robin for 100,000g and 100 Hardwood). Starfruit wine starts near 2,250g and reaches roughly 4,500g once a Cask ages it to Iridium quality. Ancient Fruit wine follows the same path from about 1,650g upward. Take the Artisan profession at Farming level 10 and every one of those bottles gains another 40%.

Before you can afford rooms full of Kegs, three earners carry the early game. Fishing pays fast with no setup beyond a rod, and crab pots in the river or ocean produce sellable shellfish every morning. The mines drop Copper, Iron and gems you can sell or refine. Hops brewed into Pale Ale at roughly 300g per Keg gives the highest output per tile once you have the Kegs to keep up with daily harvests. By Year 2, a Shed lined with 100-plus Kegs running Ancient Fruit wine becomes the steadiest income in the entire game, far ahead of selling crops raw.

All 12 marriage candidates and who is worth marrying

Stardew Valley has 12 marriage candidates, six bachelors and six bachelorettes, and any of them can marry any farmer regardless of gender. There is also a hidden thirteenth option, Krobus, who moves in as a roommate rather than a spouse.

The six bachelors and six bachelorettes each bring their own gifts, heart events and farm help:

  • Abigail (bachelorette): loves Amethyst, Pumpkin and Spicy Eel, has some of the most-praised heart events, and joins you on mine runs as an adventure-leaning spouse.
  • Leah (bachelorette): loves Salad, Goat Cheese, Truffle and Wine, items your own farm produces, which makes her one of the easiest candidates to gift toward 10 hearts.
  • Maru (bachelorette): loves Battery Packs and Cauliflower-based dishes, and as a spouse she often gifts back high-value items and helps with farm chores.
  • Emily, Haley, Penny (bachelorettes): Emily loves cloth and gems, Haley loves Sunflowers and Coconuts, and Penny loves Diamonds, Melon and Poppy.
  • Shane (bachelor): loves Beer, Hot Pepper and Pepper Poppers, and his heart events follow one of the heaviest character arcs in the game.
  • Sebastian (bachelor): loves Frozen Tear, Obsidian and Sashimi, and shares the brooding, motorcycle-and-coding storyline many players rank near the top.
  • Alex, Elliott, Harvey, Sam (bachelors): Alex the aspiring athlete, Elliott the beach-house writer, Harvey the town doctor, and Sam the skateboarding musician, each with distinct gift lists and events.

The path to marriage is fixed for everyone. Talk to your chosen candidate daily and give loved gifts twice a week plus a birthday gift, then at 8 hearts buy a Bouquet from Pierre for 200g to make it official. At 10 hearts, a Mermaid’s Pendant from the Old Mariner on the beach (5,000g, and he only appears on rainy days) triggers a wedding three days later. Your spouse then moves in, can water crops or feed animals each morning, and hearts can climb to 14 after marriage.

Is the Android version the full game, and does it run offline

The Android build is the complete Stardew Valley, not a trimmed mobile spin-off, and it matches the content of PC version 1.6.15 including Ginger Island, the Community Center and the new Mastery system. There is no separate “lite” version and nothing locked behind a paywall once installed.

This matters for an APK because the game behaves differently from most free farming apps on Android. It is a one-time purchase with zero in-app purchases and zero ads, and the entire single-player campaign runs offline, so a long flight or a no-signal commute is no problem. The port adds touch-friendly controls the PC build never needed: tap-to-move, an auto-attack toggle for combat, an always-visible toolbar, and several control schemes you can switch in settings, plus auto-save so a closed app never costs you a day.

One point most pages skip: multiplayer on Android is an experimental feature limited to local LAN play, not the open online co-op that PC offers, so an eight-player online farm is a PC and console feature. You can, however, move a PC save onto your phone, since the save format is shared across platforms. For a solo player who wants the whole farming RPG in their pocket, the mobile version loses none of the core game.

What’s new in Stardew Valley version 1.4.5.151

Version 1.4.5.151 brings the Android build in line with the PC 1.6 content, the largest update the game has ever had, after the 1.6.9 mobile release first landed it on November 4, 2024. The headline additions reshape both the start and the end of a save file.

The main changes you will notice:

  • Meadowlands Farm: a new eighth farm layout that starts you with a Coop and two chickens, plus chewy blue grass that builds animal friendship roughly twice as fast, aimed at livestock-focused farms.
  • Mastery system: a late-game progression unlocked after all five skills hit level 10, accessed through a cave in Cindersap Forest, granting perks such as the Iridium Scythe and Golden Animal Crackers.
  • New festivals and events: the three-day Desert Festival in spring (after the bus is repaired), plus the Trout Derby and SquidFest fishing events, and a hidden summer environmental event.
  • Powdermelon and new content: a winter crop grown from foraging seeds, alongside 19 new Books of Power that grant lasting perks, four new home renovations and roughly 280 new furniture pieces.
  • More pets and NPC depth: the option to adopt additional pets after maxing hearts with your first, plus over a hundred new lines of dialogue and seasonal outfits for townsfolk.

The update also redrew the world map with waterfalls, seasonal critters and pathstones, and tightened multiplayer stability and NPC pathfinding for the mobile build.

Stardew Valley MOD APK features

The MOD build targets the two walls that slow every farm: the Year 1 gold crunch and the energy bar that ends your day early. It strips out the grind for resources and tools so you can reach the late-game economy of Casks and Sheds far sooner, without changing the core farming loop.

Unlimited Money

You start the stock game with 500g, which barely covers a first batch of seeds, but the MOD removes the gold ceiling entirely. That lets you buy 400g Starfruit seeds by the dozen at the Oasis, pay Clint for the full Copper-to-Iridium tool upgrade path (which runs into tens of thousands of gold plus ore), grab the 5,000g Mermaid’s Pendant on day one, and stock a Deluxe Barn with cows and pigs before the first season ends. The Year 1 money struggle that defines the normal early game simply disappears.

Unlimited Energy

Stock energy starts at 270 points and drops with every hoe swing, watering can pour, axe chop and pickaxe hit, forcing you to eat food or collapse and pass out before 2 AM. The MOD locks energy full, so you can till and water an entire field, descend to mine floor 120, and fish a full river in a single in-game day without touching a single cooked meal. It is most useful on Skull Cavern runs, where normal energy drain cuts those deep dives short.

Mod menu and item spawner

The MOD menu lets you set the in-game time, weather and season, adjust friendship hearts, and spawn any item directly into your inventory. Instead of hunting the mines or the Traveling Cart for an Ancient Seed or an Iridium Sprinkler, you place it instantly, which is handy for skipping the random luck behind rare items like the Rare Seed for Sweet Gem Berries.

Free crafting

Crafting normally eats raw materials: a Quality Sprinkler needs Iron, Gold and Refined Quartz, a Keg needs Wood, a Copper Bar and Oak Resin, and a Crystalarium needs Iridium. The MOD drops the material cost, so you can wire an entire farm with Iridium Sprinklers and fill a Shed with 100-plus Kegs without spending days mining ore or tapping oak trees for resin.

The table below lines up the stock Stardew Valley against the MOD build, so you can see exactly which grind walls the MOD removes, from the 270-point energy bar to the 400g Starfruit seeds.

Criteria Stock APK MOD APK
Starting gold 500g Unlimited
Energy bar 270 points, drops with every tool use Locked full all day
Starfruit seeds (Oasis) 400g each, after bus repair Free / spawnable

Frequently asked questions

Is the Stardew Valley MOD APK safe to use on my main save?

Back up your save file before loading any MOD build. The MOD changes core values like gold, energy and items, so running it on a long-standing save can overwrite progress or behave oddly after an update. Keeping a separate copy of your farm lets you test the MOD without risking the file you have spent dozens of hours on.

Will the MOD work with mobile multiplayer?

Multiplayer on Android is an experimental, local LAN-only feature even in the stock game, not full online co-op. A modded client and an unmodded host usually cannot share a farm, since their game data no longer matches. The MOD is built around single-player, where unlimited gold and energy have no other player to clash with.

Is Stardew Valley free, or do you have to pay?

On Google Play, Stardew Valley is a paid one-time purchase with no in-app purchases and no ads. Once it is installed, every system is unlocked from the start, including Ginger Island, the Community Center and the Mastery content. There is no energy refill or seed pack to buy later, which is rare for a farming game on Android.

Does Stardew Valley on Android play offline?

Yes. The entire single-player campaign runs fully offline, so crops, mining and festivals all work with no connection. Auto-save protects your progress if the app closes. The only feature that needs a network is the experimental LAN multiplayer, which depends on a shared local Wi-Fi rather than the internet.
